He says he can't say anything, but then tells the Times he has signed a lease for what is now the Paddock Club for a similar type business.
That would be a bar/nightclub. No sign of an application on the state website, so it will be a while before opening unless the current corporation holding the license negotiates a sale of stock and change of officers.
A closing party for the current Paddock is slated for this weekend.
Jake had refused to renew the current licensee because of rowdiness in the Arcade and numerous police calls over time.
Might be some potential as an events venue, but a late night nightclub ? Toughest part is the site is indoors and is more of a destination than a stop.
Mr. Johnson said this morning he sees no good coming out of nightclub.
Whenever something like this comes up the first name mentioned is Shannon of Bad Apple fame....She might see this downtown location as better than her current on on the Northside of the Square.
She has the management infrastructure and licensing acumen at hand....Starting from scratch is not as easy as it sounds.

I already told you this! This deal was made long before it was reported that he wouldn't renew the lease with the other tenant. J.J. has his hands in everyone's pocket. The question is what pocket...
Hopefully it’s a vape shop or cannabis dispensary, if it’s not a fast food restaurant
They are that seem to succeed in Watertown
God forbid we get a bookstore
Would be a great location for homeless lockers.
Who cares, it’ll fold within a year.
What the heck is license acumen??? You mean she has obtained sla licenses before so she knows what a million people know and anyone could figure out by calling the authority?
Her biggest asset is Kenny Rogers inspired… She knows when to hold them and knows when to fold them. I’ve lost track of how many she folded. She is keeping the oil change place open but owning commercial property on Washington Street, it’s hard to fail. The busiest street in the county where in order to open a business you need to close one that already is running, because government run by people like Jeff Graham wouldn’t approve, adjusting the zoning. Hence, no McDonald’s. Hence in order to open a Dunkin and you need to close puffs. In order to open a kidney drugs, you need to close the mustard seed.
I don't see any pending SLA license. Although a wine license is pending for Jake's garden center. NA-0267-26-220985
"God forbid we get a bookstore?
Bookstore??? What's a bookstore?
Was that a wine or a whine license?
Maybe it will be an MMA. Other than the alcohol that is a “similar type business”.
I think we need a vape shop/cannabis dispensary/ fried chicken chain restaurant combo in there! I think that’s what we’re lacking!
