The dilemma is those services have unions, unions that control raises, cost of living adjustments, benefits, etc. Every single year they want more and more money for their employees (union members) yet the job does not change. So, to pay for that you have to raise taxes. Stop giving annual raises, stop giving cost of living adjustments every single year. No one should expect a pay raise every year, plain and simple. Stop raising their hourly rate or salary amount then you wouldn't have to raise taxes to cover those services.

There’s nothing wrong with paying the fire queens more than they are worth. That’s what government does with all government employee employees. The problem is that the fire queens also get to dictate how many of their GED brethren are being paid at any given moment and how many are being upgraded to tell the junior queen which way to sweep the shards.
