And the “horrendous” graduation rate? That’s interesting, because the ranking you’re citing explicitly includes graduation rates in the K–12 performance score. Yet somehow New York still ends up #1 in the nation. Wild how math works for the poorly educated.
As for spending: yes, New York invests more per student. That’s why the highest‑spending states (NY, MA, CT, NJ) dominate the top of the rankings. But sure — let’s pretend that spending less automatically makes schools better. Florida spends about half as much and lands at #24, but hey, don’t let the results get in the way of the narrative.
So no — Florida is not “ranked higher.” The data says the exact opposite.

No wonder you didn't bother looking at what your fake newz used to determine their fake ratings. Things such as "teacher qualifications", "per-pupil spending" and "student-to-teacher ratios" mean NOTHING. And who knows what "school safety indicators" even means. If you go by SAT scores, you'll see red states at the top of the list.
