More people are getting involved in Neighborhood Watch...which used to be called, being a good neighbor.
Encouraging people to keep an eye out for crime and take measures to prevent it is all well and good.....the frustration is for minor crimes where there are few consequences.
The City policy is to keep arms length from Neighborhood Watch for liability issues but the police union has donated to the organization to put up signs..,.That the City is allowing the signs is a partnership, which is fine.
Does the Police or Fire department have people appearing on 7 News This Morning or Noon or other media outlets to discuss citizen concerns and what is going on to prevent and solve crimes...,,If not, why...? Of course that new communication. policy discourages that kind of outreach.
Wonder how the guy beat up on Jefferson Street is doing.? Well the answer is he is making progress but brain injuries are a challenge. Questions like that, no matter how innocently asked, are not what City Hall wants to hear....And we never did get a full airing of what happened in the whole Milly affair. The City didn't want to talk about the Harvest Festival even though I affirmed I wouldn't ask about the golf course.
