No surprise as Council unanimously voted to let the Third Floor and the city’s out of town attorney negotiate the leasing of the Thompson Park Golf Course to a local accountant and her family..
Clearly lawmakers want to maintain their hands off approach and will vote to approve whatever is put before them. The proposal is for a seven month lease with rent of $3 K per month. The cost of negotiating will easily chew up the rent money, but the assumption is the City avoids the budget line items for running the course. Unknown are job cuts and who pays for major maintenance. Rate structures and pricing are unknown, but,for Council, they can walk away from the issue for the time being.
They don’t seem concerned over home rule permission from Albany or what happens after next year.
As for “numbers” ? Council it turns out didn’t need them…

Council did the right thing by letting professionals handle it. Council has no business skills.
