So reads the headline Newzjunky this morning....Meanwhile Council Member Shoen, says if people want a parade, pay for it.,..,He claims it costs the City $13,000, roughly what the City pays each Member of Council.
If Council members don't want a parade just say so....
Not wanting to bundle up a child is a perfectly understandable sentiment... And while the marginal additional costs of a parade may be peanuts to some, its a lot of money for cash strapped lawmakers and a CM and staff for whom this is just one more pain in the ass.
I don't think money has anything to do with it...They don't want to stage a parade or go to a parade...
Same reason we don't have a Mayor's Ball anymore.
And as for taking kids out in the cold, look at the work it took to dress up that kid in the movie Christmas Story..

Get a grip. She's one vote of 5. Council adopted the budget which did not include the parade funding. You could fix this cutting a $13,000 check to the City. Make the check payable to City Comptroller.
