Drinking an driving was certainly an issue but the stats are WAY overstated. If they did the same stats with speeding they would determine speeding was involved in 99% of accidents. But we don't consider going 56 mph in a 55 speeding. And just because someone was going 56 mph when someone pulled out in front of them doesn't mean speeding was the cause.
At least one of those deaths was caused by long detours forced on us by the DEC and DOT that doesn't answer to anyone and is immune from lawsuits and liability.
