We Care

Mayor Sarah Pierce and Chief Cristin Lyon put out a joint statement today on crime, saying the City does all it can and citizens have to be part of the solution.

Shortly after it came out we hear of a severely beaten man on Jefferson Street and of course there is the recent spate of stabbings.

Lot of platitudes, and where is the boss ?

Those living in the crime areas just have to do their best.  Those with no stake in life here, really have no reason to care.

But it was an acknowledgement of public concerns, and that's a start. However , as public relations campaigns go, this statement is rather lame.

Its awfully weak, while also arrogant, to demand that city residents need to step up and somehow help combat crime. 🙄

To Mayor Sara and Chief Cristin, DO YOUR DAMN JOBS. 🤬

Record low crime in Mamdani's NYC right now.

the city is a huge cesspool. There is weak leadership with mayor and the CM from Chaumont. Nothing will get better until changes are made.

The statement was clearly written by AI, as it has the rule of three all over it.
Pathetic attempt at trying to make city "leadership" look engaged with the community.
The new chief is the same as the old chief, and a "mayor" that never was.

Lock your doors, really? Why do I pay taxes? That was one of the lamest statements I have read in relationship to Watertown. Ladies....step it up!

What exactly do you expect the city manager to do about the Democrats importing criminals into our county?

Only idiots do NOT lock their doors.

It's a Republican town in a Republican area of the state. Always has been. These are the results.

The statement gets away from answering questions. It’s fluff. The Manager allowed this as he doesn’t want to hear he lives in Chaumont and his top two cops live further away. That said, there has always been crime, but it just seems worse at the moment.

Watertown either needs to put up a few "Knife Free Zone" signs or ban these assault weapons completely.

I'm not sure why we should be comforted to know these are unrelated events.
I think they should name Angry Archires as the new canine for city PD. He sounds like a snarling dog.

What would be the difference if he lived on Spindle Lane? He would still have zero contact with those shitty neighborhoods. That's why Jeff is pushing a false argument here. Chaumont or Loomis Drive. No difference. Does the man have to live on Burchard street to "get a feel" of the neighborhood? I think not. Jeff is just jealous because the CM is a competent administrator and that just eats at him. No limelight for Jeff anymore.

YOU ARE SAFE CHEIF YOU DONT LIVE HERE

The chief doesn’t have to be there at crime scenes. The people on duty can run things.

And it will continue to drop as the mayor's common sense policies come to fruition.
