I am puzzled as to why you think this somehow vindicates Homan or ICE. Sex offenders are taken out of home all the time. What was strange in this case was they sent the children (who didn't even live in the same house) to a detention center on the other side of the country. Ordinarily, DSS would either find a suitable place here in the vicinity, or if the sex offender was taken into custody, leave the children where they are. The fact that these kids were returned shortly after the protest means the Superintendent , and common sense won. And Homan and the bigots lost. And that is what gets under Jeff's skin.
The controversy was never about Meyer, who was the named target of a warrant which specified the criminal pornography accusations against him. Although there are without doubt some who even have a problem with ICE pursuing what they term “the worst of the worst”, that was not the crux of the matter here.
The issue was the arrest and detention of 7 “collateral” individuals, including 3 children who were unrelated to the target. The third grader detained, her siblings and mother, all had pending unresolved immigration court proceedings when apprehended by ICE, and were immediately shipped across the country to Texas, allegedly with no due process.
The resolution of the case against Meyer was proper and expected. If we had even half decent journalists, they would investigate and write about whatever happened to the children.
