The Army has chosen Fort Drum as the site for one of its ini nukes under the JANUS program....Assemblyman Scott Gray says New York's first reactor in 40 years will come to the post securing the future of the facility and providing dependable power for the nation's defense.
The nuts and NIMBYs will surely mouth off, but screw them....
Gray calls the announcement among the most consequential in the Post's hundred year plus history.
He cautioned there is still work to do.

No thanks to either Elsie or Claude.
A power plant is a big deal? Really? All it means is it’s another target if the US is attacked.
Thanks to Senators Schumer and Gilibrand. They got the job done while Claude is complaining about Communists, like this is 1952 or something. Out of touch much?
A self-inflicted wound: Americans now pay 75% more for aluminum than the rest of the world, and 64% more for steel.
The price of protectionism is to drive up the cost of living for ordinary citizens and to destroy businesses’ ability to compete.
Thanks Schumer. Now what do we get from Stefanik and Tenney? Nada.
Trump: “WE DON’T NEED ANYTHING FROM CANADA.”
Trump (hours later): “Selfishly, we need aluminum in this country. We don’t have it. We get it all from Canada for the most part, and we need it badly.”
You left the most important part out. Watertown will still be a uninhabitable shit hole. Prove me wrong.
Thanks to Donald, immigrant cows will be stealing American cattle jobs
Let's get one for Watertown as well!
I’m surprised usually democrats are in the business of closing nuclear power plants, the Cuomo’s closed two.
Nuclear energy is the most environmentally toxic form of energy generation. We really should do a better job at limiting the high-level nuclear waste dumps in the region to Oswego County. Why should we start one at Fort Drum? It makes no sense.
I know nothing about nuclear power but I am opposed to this and will post a NIMBY sign in my yard if told to .
I live in Watertown and love it! Wouldn't want to live anywhere else. You must have an axe to grind about Watertown 7:35. Maybe you should seek professional help. Good Luck!
Earth to 7:45: Ever heard of a coal plant? You don't know what you are talking about. Look at old pics (1940's) of Public Square. Everything is covered in soot!
We must get Russia finleys stupid spin on this. He will say trump did it. When brainwashed by a cult leader, anything goes. Just all lies.
