New Era

Chief Lyon was ceremonially sworn in as police chief and her message was positive and stressed training and service....A new regime provides new opportunities to provide the service even better....

The new Chief certainly appears enthusiastic about her opportunity....And it is an opportunity, not just a job.

Policing is by nature reactive, but there is room for being proactive. Meeting people, introducing yourself to business people ,being seen......And talking about it through different media....

An example that doesn't involve City PD are the stings on convenience stores...How about approaching those businesses you have reason to think have compliance issues instead of a sneaky dragnet.

On the pathologies of the community,  lead a dialogue on the homeless as the police spend a lot of time responding to their nuisance while the welfare system shrugs it shoulders all too often.

I don't know what you do about drugs...Weed is now actively promoted by government...That wasn't so when the Chief became an officer in 2005.

But lets wish the Chief the best....

Ignorant statement about the welfare program. Many people have been helped. The ones you see on the street are the ones who CHOOSE to be on the street. Big difference.

"How about approaching those businesses you have reason to think have compliance issues instead of a sneaky dragnet."

I give it less than 90 before you are blogging she didn’t deserve the job and she only got for other reasons that you won’t say out loud even though you have said it out loud 100 times

Start with the stores with live-in owners from 3rd world countries. Lots of kids getting drinks at paddy hill.

If you've seen this and haven't you contacted the police 9:54, is a crime.
