President Trum suggest renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America as the war of words and tariffs criss cross the border just miles away from us.
Lake Ontario borders Jefferson County but it won't be on the news unless it's in the daily DC piece from Natalie Brand at CBS.
Since all the frontage of the Lake in NY is in NY24, I think I'll ask the MOC representing that district...

Trump is right in claiming the U.S. does not “need” Canada, but both economies are interdependent. If “winning” his trade war means imposing more damages on Canada than they can impose on us, he can even win. However, as in any war, there will be casualties on both sides. The damage caused to the American economy and U.S. consumers will be considerable. The costs to Northern New York if this is carried out will be devastating. Worth remembering that our energy infrastructure is dependent on oil and natural gas imported from Canada. Could be a cold and expensive winter.
BTW for those preoccupied with upcoming elections, also true for Maine, and this could easily sink Republican hopes of keeping Collins as Senator.

We certainly don't NEED to process canadian oil. Luckily, the adults in charge have already been working on massive increases in refinery capacity for light sweet crude.
Of course he has a plan,TB, but your sniffles case of TDS once again clouds your perception. He wants Canada, and the trade war will contribute to his success. While some may see something wrong with the 51st state concept, it's a measure that I find attractive on a global strength factor for America. So while you and the rest suffer from TDS Tuesday, there are others who find sanity in Trump's radical but potentially beneficial decisions. Canada does not deserve sovereignty at the USA's expense, they'd just as soon piss on us than acknowledge our contribution to their ability to exist, like a flea on the back of a dog.
