Pied-a-terre Gears Up

As NYC prepares to hire at least a couple dozen people to administer the new pied-a'-terre tax on swanky second homes, GOP gubernatorial hopeful Bruce Blakeman plans on axing the tax if elected....Don't know how since the Legislature will not be Republican.

Promise of tax cuts are something political hopefuls have long promised but there is no constituency in the voter pool for getting rid of pied-a-terre....

This would be a great new tax for upstate as local officials could claim people from elsewhere are paying the tax.

I’m just glad you have to pay 11% tax on your electricity

Nice, but “swanky” homes over $1 million in Manhattan can be a standard 1 bedroom condo. The owners use less services than full time residents, and do not use the schools they pay taxes for to begin with, but don’t get to vote in local elections. Now we have “double taxation without representation”.

I wish trump would follow through with his promised tax cuts for us working class peons.

It’s sad to see you forget your 20 years as the mayor and how politics works. You revert back to childish ways of thinking, where you think elected people are doing the will of the voters. You of all people, who mostly did your own will and the will of shadow government and DANC, should understand how an idea becomes law or policy. Hell, you were talking about rental properties in the park just yesterday. And before they had you saw speed bumps installed there. Which voter faction wanted that crap? The voters in Tughill?

A fully masked ICE agent pepper sprayed a woman in New York yesterday merely for videotaping.

This is what tyranny looks like in Trump’s America. Imagine if Biden had Trump supporters pepper sprayed for videotaping.

Is that like pied-a-ass on state street?

Funny how every ‘new tax’ is always paid by someone else—until the bill arrives.

Now I know why I left NY years ago.

Why don’t I believe that there is more to the story?

Ever hear of The One Big Beautiful Bill Act made Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent.

BARTIROMO: Last time we spoke, you told me you were expecting 4% growth in the second half of the year. The number was way lower. How would you assess that?

HASSETT: The reason why the number was 1.5% was because we imported so many capital goods because we're building factories so fast

The midterms are this simple:

Biden and Democrats inherited a poorly managed pandemic, massive job loss, and a ruined economy from Trump in 2021.

They added jobs every month, the pandemic recovery went better than in peer nations, and by 2024 the US economy was dubbed the Envy of the World and was so strong it improved the entire global outlook.

That was what Republicans and Trump inherited.

Then, they slammed the brakes on the economy, killed job growth, drove up inflation, made healthcare far more expensive, kicked one million children off of food assistance, started an illegal war, angered our allies, and made the nation sick from cuts to health inspections and disease monitoring, not to mention the rampant corruption that has enriched the president and his family with billions of dollars.

The midterms are your chance to change this.

It is time to vote those who have failed us out of power.
