The Garrabrant plan to reinvigorate city trash collection is on the street today and I will read it over tonight.
This is a good initiative although a challenge to the regime and how they brought the service nearly to a halt just weeks ago.
Council needs to be more involved….
Not like in climbing onto bathhouse roofs, but actually making policy aimed at success and not managing decline.

If there was any truth to what Olney is claiming, he would put together a consortium to lease the golf course - lots of profit to be made at City expense.
Too bad nobody believes him and he has no money to put where his mouth is.
I've read it, and it all seems like a good.idea. The problem with city hall is, they are very poor at disseminating information.
Back in the day when bulk trash dropoffs were a thing, there were fliers mailed to residences, included in the WDT, and a large sign with info near the dropoff point before the event.
Part of the problem is the fracturing of where people get their information. The addition of fliers mailed to homes would have helped immensely with people being aware of the new trash rules.
I would imagine the bulk of customers were on the older side, and actually read all the mail they get. How many people visit the citys website per week? A very small number I'm sure, and not everyone is a daily Newzjunky reader.
Has Eric already lost the room? Heard some staff are referring to him as Daddy. They say their ideas are stymied because Daddy knows best...
No its not a good initiative, its a stupid libtard initiative.
Everyone knows the best solution to municipal trash service is to contract it out to a company that specializes in trash service.
Much like running a golf course…is best done by someone in the golf business. .
Good for Shane. The good Dr must be beside himself as he often gives the look of disdain to the young lad as he takes anything the lad says as an affront to his own knowledge
There is no “regime” in Watertown, thankfully. All have individual voting powers. Now you, Jeffery, you would like to see that changed. But for now we have no regime.
Yeah, Waste Hauling, just about the most corrupt businesses ever, why do you think the mob has such an influence in this arena? Third party haulers are always sticking it to someone. Municipalities, have been in the trash business for ions, but you want mobsters running the show. Go watch the Sopranos if you don’t believe me ;=)
Link?
Get rid of the DPW chief.
Maybe because Shane's annoying voice hadn't changed yet.
