As a multigenerational resident of the City of Watertown and a homeowner here for more than thirty years, I’m proud of my Irish heritage. That said, I genuinely don’t see the value in City Hall raising the Irish flag for St. Patrick’s Day weekend. It seems the City Council has more pressing issues that deserve its time and attention. Only former CC member Cliff Olney would go off on a 25-minute rant on this issue.

It rejected the idea that City Hall belongs to all of its people.
A city confident in itself doesn’t fear cultural recognition — it celebrates it.
The Irish flag isn’t a political symbol. It represents heritage, history, and a community that has helped build this city.
Governing by fear of “what might be controversial someday” guarantees only one outcome: a public square stripped of meaning.
Leadership isn’t avoiding disagreement — it’s managing it with fairness and clarity.
Watertown deserves better than policies rooted in apprehension rather than inclusion.

Jake thought he could fk me out of the podcast room and steal my idea and hard work. He owed me a lot. I decided to make sure that he never got a dime more until he paid me or I would make him take me to court.
