Flags

A Newzjunky straw poll show by two to one people want the Irish flag flown at City Hall. Just readopt the policy that the three poles are for US, State and City flags...Period. End of Story...Full Stop..

Does anyone clamor for an Irish Flag at other public buildings, and let's not forget who hosts the Festival.

People are making threats that something is in the works.

You are correct in your assessment.

PJ could put a flagpole
On his billboard property for such ceremonial displays.

Why fly and Ireland Flag in the US?

I've heard they're gonna fly the pride flag again. This will make Donny cry.

It's just another loss of community. Separating us into our siloes even more.

Your exactly right. Recent polling suggests many Irish citizens are critical or cautious about the U.S.,

The people in Ireland are very pro Trump.

Not sure I agree with a blanket prohibition of flags, but at least it makes sense to avoid controversies - and if that is the consensus, it should be the adopted policy. As it is, despite their protestations, 3 council members did not vote for this. They allowed existing policy to continue, and voted specifically against displaying the Irish flag to celebrate St. Patrick’s day.

I, for one, want the flags limited to national, state, and city flags. That's it. Private property for all other flags in Watertown.

Flat Head if they fly the flag can you even afford the trip back to NY to rip it down? This city manager won’t back down if you get arrested on the hate crime you pulled last time. You have been warned.

The poll shows about 62% support raising the Irish flag — meaning only 38% back the council majority’s decision to ban cultural flags.

Funny coincidence: 38% is also about the share of the vote that put Jeff Smith in office in a three-way race — hardly a sweeping mandate then, and not exactly a groundswell now.

It increasingly looks like a there's a small clique pushing social and economic policies the broader community doesn’t actually want.

Watertown deserves leadership that reflects the whole community, not just the most ignorant and loudest minority.

My opinion is that if you can’t say yes to all, you have to say no to all.

Would people be quick to fly the flag of Iran?
Of Sudan?
Of Russia?

Flags of special interests or groups should never be flown regardless of popularity.

Who cares?

If you want to fly the Irish flag but also a pride flag in June, then great.

If you only want to fly the US, state, and city flags, then also great.

Again, you have no business at all in city politics nor business because you are outside the city and state!!!! LEAVE WATERTOWN ALONE!!!!

Anonymous said...

Hey guess what, we are gonna go sneak the flags on the pole and take pictures of them up there. That includes the pride flag too!!!

Two flags have been requested. The presidential flag and the turning point USA flag.

We can certainly pick and choose which flags to fly. If governments aren't allowed to do that, then they shouldn't be allowed to close banks and post offices for juneteenth, xmas and MLK day.

If city hall doesn't want to display flags, on all city property, other than government depicting flags so be it. Their right. Independent organizations with flags to display can beg someone else to raise it for them

Remind us Cliff, what was your share of the votes in the last election?

Flat Earth Watertown New York said...

If they did the individual flags pill, the pride flag would not be the majority. You would have about 400 votes for it and that's about it.

Your third paragraph is the gays. There's only like 400 of you. In a city of 20k. That's the clique that is pushing the agenda.

Now you're spinning it as a hate crime? They charged me with criminal tampering then a jury told me not guilty so don't ever forget. They couldn't believe that the queers through such a fit. That Jury sent a clear message to your community

I've traveled to all 50 states. I can be anywhere anytime I need to be. I've been to all five Great lakes. And I've been to all four Coasts. I think there's only just a couple highways in this country that I have not traveled on.

I just have no need to be in Watertown at this moment. But you're not going to have to wait long that's guaranteed.

Why in the hell do you give a shit about any flag. Who cares. Get a life. So worried about a friggin flag. Duhhhh. So stupid.

Uh... no they're not, 9:07.

The most ignorant and loudest recently lost his write-in bid for Watertown council, 9:48. Maybe you heard about that abject failure?

Anonymous said...

I don’t care about your flags. I can’t afford my power bill.

Anonymous said...

Looks like being on the outside has done you some good 9:48.

LIE CHEAT STEAL AND MURDER... got it 1:14.

Considering Trump is one of the most divisive and disliked presidents in history, it would be safer to fly the LGBTQ flag.
