WDT: City Ponders Legion

City Hall is taking a hard look at moving the court across the street to the American Legion building. The structure is being analyzed for viability.
It's not known whether trying to alter the Legion building or putting up a new structure is better and the acquisition cost would likely be in the hundreds of thousands.
All of this as Council weighs how best to alter the court to meet the demands of the NYS Office of Court Administration for space and security.
The other avenue is to modify the fifty year old City Hall.
No word on relocation plans for the veterans organization.

I guarandamntee you that many more of your readers know what the legal BAC reading is for a DWI, than know where or what the Legion is. Why not include a picture of the legion? Why not a map showing where its located instead of just saying its across the street? Where? On Washington Street?

I expect this type of reporting from the WDT's because they are retarded and live in their own bubble, but I expect better from your blog Mayor Graham. You are not just talking to your fellow city politicians with this blog, you are talking to folks like my mom.

Here is a picture. That was easy.

Mite touchy, ain't you there 9:03?I think most Watertonians, who will be footing the bill, know where it is and don't need a map.If you rule out across the street at the WDT,there is only one more place it could be,as next door is the library and we sure as hell know it isn't on Goodale St.Nice to know we can suddenly come up with hundreds of thousands of dollars, probably into the millions by the time construction costs are over.I thought the city was going broke after they had to reduce in rank those firemen to save what,a lousy fifty g?

Was not too long ago that the City Manager thumbed her nose at the state and its "requirement" for a new court room. She appeared on TV 7 and stated that she did not feel that this was a mandate and she stated that the city had no interest in complying. Shortly thereafter the state made her eat her words and here we are; mandated and on a short time frame. I guess this is what happens when you piss off the state. Way to go Sharon.

A new court room is a waste of tax payer dollars, The one at city hall and the new Jail is more then enough. The state wants a new court room let them foot the entire cost .

Are you telling me that just because there are 2 judges that they each need their own courtroom? Why can't they share one? Expanded hours could solve this problem. Now we want to buy and renovate a whole new building? Lets just sit down with the county and negotiate some space in the new court complex. There has to be somewhere in that huge building that can accommodate this need.
