WDT: Perry's On Point With Train Rap

Industry in the Adirondacks is a thing of the past...J & L in Star Lake...Long gone...And Newton Falls Paper Company is gone too....empty of machinery and workers and not really viable for decades despite the usual government efforts to prop it up...
That's why many of us wondered why the state wants to spend nearly $10M fixing up a rail line to nowhere...It would make an interesting Twilight Zone episode with phantom train sounds but no train or people....
I don't know if anyone lives in Newton Falls...the hotel is closed and likely nature will reclaim the real estate.
If the state is still spending that money, you have to wonder why.

They spend on it for the same reason the state spends money on everything else....they want to give the money directly to the contractors but need an excuse to do so.

Wasn't there a news story some few months ago about a defunct rail-passenger station in Syracuse receiving funds for rebuilding?

This is Keynesianism at the core. The theory that directed spending of X-dollars on Y-"bridges to nowhere" is ultimately beneficial.

Lost is the fact that it is all "built" (so to say) on theft. Money is a commodity and gov't drones misallocate massive sums chronically, depriving the free market of funds and flexibility and the people of prosperity.
