Strong absentee numbers in his home county propelled John Byrne to the GOP nomination in AD 116 and the rematch against Assemblywoman Addie Russell. This time Mr. Byrne will have the Indy, Conservative and Reform lines.
Rival Bill Sheridan was ahead on primary night and gained 13 votes in SLC but got swamped down here.
Democrats has rooted for Sheridan to create a split line race, but the candidacy of Mr. Byrne creates a grudge match after his narrow loss in 2014.
