NYDN: Another Faustian Bargain ?

The Daily News reports the Governor is willing to trade a legislative raise for passage of new ethics rules.
How is that different from what nine people got charged for this past week.  Quid pro quo, money in exchange for consideration.
One can argue both ways and one way is that we are in an era when politics gets criminalized when we want it to be. The same concepts in another application are OK. That's why it's so hard to know what is corrupt and what isn't

this may be the most absurd article I have ever read. How about this for a friggin concept?? Do your ****** job! The whole state system needs to be blown up. Numbers don't lie. Start up NY, NY leads the union in defections, etc...When will the people stand up? Never because Andy makes sure that all his "minority" following gets the handouts and in return he can reign. I am still hoping that he gets what is coming to him...Just a matter of time before the link to his corruption is so obvious he can't wiggle out of it anymore.

The gov is full of BS. There is a committee assigned to evaluate and set the raises. Once that is done, for the raises not to go through the legislature has to pass a law and the governor has to sign it. Unless the legislator decides they do not want a raise there is nothing that will change the committee's recommendation.

Sorry Andy, you have no power here

Benito is desperately trying to appear to be an honest man. Not much chance of that happening, other than with the party liners who only care about the letter D. He already did one "commission" that was supposed to go after corruption. When they got close to the head thug, he disbanded them. The man is a just another NYC criminal. But according to Adelaide, he throws neat parties.

Graham, what a crock! Of course we know what is and isn't corrupt, we have just become resigned to it. Politicians are hypocrites. Take for example Addie Russel. Her most recent campaign flyer shows her posing in from of The Mason Farm up in Cape Vincent with Paul and Elaine Mason, boasting that we should have zero tolerance for corruption. The Mason's were probably the most verbal and public supporters of the corrupt government in that town, when they sold out to bribery from British Petroleum a few years ago. What a stupid and hollow claim for her to make. She should have at least picked some folks who weren't so blatantly accepting of corruption for her ad. Egads!!
