Often I've felt all the press calls for medical records is intrusive and leads to amateur doctoring. The health of a candidate and fitness for office can be judged by voters over a long campaign.
Well the collapse on camera and frequent absences from the trail is something the public will judge Hillary Clinton on, but for the most part the race won't change because she has cancelled travel plans like what happened this week.
Few supporters of Mrs. Clinton would ever find Donald Trump an acceptable alternative.
The press is criticizing the withholding of the pneumonia diagnosis while the surrogates are fanned out saying "there's nothing to see here, move on."
The best Trump plan would be say nothing and just campaign as normal and create the juxtaposition of vitality versus frailty.
The problem now is that the Clinton camp has been caught and every burp or sneeze will be a news cycle, and any major incident in public again could be disastrous.
Also, so far, the number two on the ticket has not distinguished himself as Presidential timber, so in the short term, Dems have to be wondering if shutting down the process to give Mrs. Clinton the nod over a Joe Biden was such a good idea.
By the way, it was 82 degrees in NYC when all this happened although initial reports were that it was unusually oppressive heat.
