FCC may deliver death knell for set-top boxes

When the box says, 'please wait', or freezes up, or loses the screen data, all prompting a lengthy reboot......that's when I want the box gone.

FCC may deliver death knell for set-top boxes

More totalitarian BS from the Obama administration. The FCC was never created and was never given the broad powers to pass agency law that they keep doing. Each state has their own PSC that could pass these edicts if they wanted to.

How is the cable company supposed to stop us from stealing their services if they aren't allowed to use proprietary hardware?

Service seems to get worse each week. Slow tv guides, rebooting box daily on its own, freezing...how much are they charging us again??

If you subscribe to cable service, why should you have to "rent" their cable box for over $11 a month and pay to view "the Guide" for #3.50 a month? That gets expensive when you have more than one tv in your home. Those fees should be a benefit of your subscription. They just look for more and more ways to screw the consumer.

I have the answer for 9:47 and 4:29; cut the cord! We did so years ago and never looked back.......

Look into the real reason the government took VHS, and UHF from us. All the talk about cell phone companies using more of it was total crap. The government is using it to transmit free internet in Africa, and I bet soon here. More for the so called poor. I watched this find couple in line at Tops last night. They rang up all their basic food stuff, which I thought they made a good choice in most of it. It came up to around $15.00. Then they added all the soda to it. It ended out being well over $30.00! He swiped that card with pride. I felt like kicking his butt. I'm sick of the give this , and that. Plus all the control we keep letting the government have. We need to stop it all.
