Dog Day in Thompson Park

A large crowd of people and their dogs helped out today in the Canine Cancer Dog Walk in Thompson Park. Jet took part in the two mile trek and finished  Lots of booths were set up and local police K-9s were there.
SG was there pushing his dog park. The subject will be broached at Monday's Council meeting. Lawmakers have never decertified Factory Square as the preferred location and seem content to let sleeping dogs lie.
I did take Jet to McDonalds afterward for a couple burgers....Normally she likes that but today chose to throw them up on the console.

Like people, once they start that "healthy" lifestyle of walking/running, their sytems can't handle real food any longer and they can only go to the Mustard Seed and eat organic rice cakes or else they are nauseous all the time. No dairy, wheat or meat from now on, or they puke. Ahhhhh...nothing like being "healthy" lifestyle.

Can you imagine the accomplishments SG would make if he were on the City Council. What harm will a dog park do, there is no difference between a dog park than a children's playground, if built it will be used. The dog park would be another positive amenity for the COW.Thank you SG for your persistence in trying to better your community. In closing - Jet for Mayor.

I believe the dog park should be in the park and approve of where SG is proposing it to go. If you goup to the park on any given day, people are there walking their dogs. They are already there so a dog park would just be an added bonus so dogs can run.

12:17, baloney!! The Park is a place for all the residents of the City and region to enjoy, not just dog owners. Be responsible and creative as a pet owner, and stop expecting the city to provide you with recreational area for your dog.

I agree with the first three posters.

SG's new plan makes a sense and I like this plan very much. The area is also big enough for a dog park.
The park is for all the residents of the City. Dog owners should have their place as the rest of the people.
The side is perfect and bothers no neighbors like Factory street location and also is secure, no busy street, no river there .

what happened to keeping you dog in your yard, maybe walking it sometimes, why does the city have to provide real estate, fences, and upkeep for your mutt?Because this SG guy feels the need to socialize with other dog owners? Grow up and socialize on your own dime doggy guy,I am not wanting to pay for it.

5:54, I have several pet cats, some fish, 3 goats, 2 pet ferrets, one llama, two horses, and a couple of dogs. I have very limited space to exercise these animals, I would love to bring them to Thompkins Park , so I hope you and Mr. Gates succeed with your plans to convert part of the Olmstead refuge into a recreational area for pets. Please consider that in fairness to all critters and their owners, it should be a uni, or multi-pet facility. Shouldn't require more than half of the available space now designated for people.
