WDT Says Chamber Move an Inside Deal With Economic Development Agencies

While praising the decision by the local Chamber of Commerce to move back to its more visible location on Coffeen Street, the WDT opined this AM the original move was orchestrated by the JCIDA to protect the loans it had with the owners of the Wright Conference Center on Faichney Drive.
Specifically the Times alleges agency czar Don Alexander was the reason for the move a couple years back.
The Chamber said it moved back to Coffeen Street to save money since it was unable to sell the distinctive stone building where they had been housed for years.

This is why every American with a job is against these ABC XYZ agencies. What do they do exactly? Shuffle money around from one crony to another or in this case move the Chamber to a terrible location all to benefit a Loanee of one of said ABC organizations so said organization will not look bad when Loanee defaults because they should have never been in that building to begin with. SHELL GAME at our expense. How much money did the Chamber pay in rent all of these months (years)? Didn't that money come from there membership money? WASTED! Let's thank the Dons. When are these men going to lose their jobs? This is just bat shit crazy to continue to support them when they do nothing for the community. How well and to whom are they connected if there is no accountability? Disgusting.
The city should have facilitated a move for Guilfoyle to a better location, that is without a doubt. The location along the river should be a continuance of the park that runs next to it, and should become a part of our overall river front district. I know this is a little hard for the Don's and some of the other rubes in the north country but if they were to get out a little more and visit other water front towns they would see that it is indeed a possibility and would make for business opportunities and quality of life improvements for our citizens. Not sure the conference center was a good locations even if given to them because I believe that building was build for industrial purposes that made it hard to retrofit to office space. I recently had cause to be there and found no A/C and filth, not exactly where a Chamber should be. Take all the money paid in rent from the Dons paychecks and see if that lights a fire for real development and not some new version of the SHELL game.

The Economic Development agencies cater to the well-heeled and better connected of the area, just read some of the minutes of the WLDC, the owner of the Lincoln claims he'll bring 150 jobs downtown if given the Sun, Moon, Stars, so far he's brought in a Yogi Studio. Remember a few years ago when the owner of a paper mill in Brownville wanted to sell out, it was sold it received all sorts of incentives to speed the sale up, and it never produced any paper, Oddly the CEO of the JCIDA was part owner of the mill. Time to discontinue both agencies and start over as both are corrupt beyond belief, Imagine giving 5 K to the Urban Mission??????????

Wait... the still is a chamber of commerce?

Yes it is 956, The Chamber moved to the Faichney Dr. location to help out Guilefoyle,(why they moved there is beyond me) The Donald did some behind the scenes work as the deal would get Guilefoyle off the hook for their loan with JCIDA, that didnt work out, I find it odd since you're taking a manufacturing plant and converting it to office space, anyway then the chamber finds out it can't afford it either, so they move back to the original space, they should have stayed downtown but Dave Mance wanted it closer to him.
