Perry and company over at 260 have been grumbling over Donald Trump's candidacy since their guy Kasich got eliminated and now they want our MOC to elaborate on why she supports Mr. Trump.
Well for starters she supports him for the same reason Mike Derrick supports Hillary Clinton or Matt Funiciello supports Dr. Jill Stein. Party.
Frankly, I am tired of the media's game this year of trying to put local pols on the spot by asking them to respond to every real or perceived offense from Mr. Trump. It's not something asked of Democratic elected officials on every issue over emails or the Clinton Foundation. I also don't think some of these elected people nationally or locally should feel obliged to dump on their nominee on cue either.
There are good reasons to support Mr Trump in this past week's policy speeches on the economy and terrorism. Rep. Stefanik surely finds some common ground and should say if asked, but she is also running her own campaign, and while voting for Mr. Trump is not a surrogate for him.
The two most opinionated papers in NY21 seem to not like Mr. Trump nnd want others to bend to their will.
The fact is the binary choice offered this year is a difficult one for many voters and that is why newspapers might want to encourage more voices and choices by no longer covering for the Presidential Debate Commission which is just a convenience for lazy media and a rigged system that this year has presented us the most dubious pair of candidates ever.
I will compliment my frends at 260 for their reference to the HOTLINE in the editorial. It shows they are discriminating listeners.
