NY adds machetes to list of "dangerous or deadly" weapons | WHEC

There's a lot of garden tools that can be dangerous but now the machete is on Governor Cuomo's list of "dangerous or deadly" weapons. Possession with intent to harm can now get you jail time.
       What about a scythe ?
Could do a number on someone with one of those. There are lots of things that can be put to ill use.  Come to think of it, other than in the movies, have you ever seen anyone use a machete to cut brush. They got machines for that now.

It is very unusual for Cuomo to enact a law like this because there is no obvious way this new law will kill jobs or businesses in NY.

I have brush nippers. I could cut off your fingers if I wanted to. But don't. My lawn mower is dangerous if I ran you over with it. Something is wrong with Albany.

And if it has a pistol-grip, it's labeled an assault machete.

And hedge clippers (both manual and electric), pole saws, chain saws (especially if the assailant is from Texas wearing a leather mask), tree limbs (oh brother where art thou), hammers, pliers (for you medieval types), pool cues, pool balls, chairs (viciously thrown with little intent of pinpoint accuracy), flaming spray cans of paint and marbles on a staircase. Oh, and the old mama's frying pan too.
Would sharpened tooth brushes be considered deadly, or does this list exclude "prison weapons"?
And would shoes, once thrown with intent of harm at GW, make the list? Hey! A shoe throw can be serious, especially from a guy or girl with BIG FEET, unless your agile enough, like GW was, to avoid being hit by it.

He should add Scimitars to the list.

no need to get worked up about it,the law only makes them illegal if the person uses them or possesses them with intent to use them against another person. So don't chop up your family, neighbor,or co workers, though this would be the last of your worries if you did. What this is,is a bullshit addition by the lawmakers,as any weapon can be labeled that once you use it against someone else.

You can bet your maid's high heels that our Adelaide voted for this trash. Speaking of which. Can't high heels be used as a weapon?

8:57, quit trying to excuse and explain away libtardism.
If you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to use those devices for self defense, they become an illegal weapon by default, just as soon as you use them or intend to use them. You could be perfectly within your natural rights to self defense and still be charged with the crime. You could be perfectly within your rights to intend to use them but not be forced to follow through, and you are guilty too. We would be far far safer if we made libtards illegal.
