Judge in Ohio Rules Inspection Law Violates Constitution | WWNY TV 7

Seems some in our MSM are going to give Councilman Jennings a hard time....TV 7 is reporting on a case in Ohio involving Fourth Amendment objections to rental inspections. That's pretty weighty stuff at City Hall to be discussing amendments to the Constitution.
Usually the MSM is only vaguely aware of the First Amendment the way a bar owner only learned the 21st.
There will be an editorial in favor of the law....maybe an OP/ED from the Reverend and a lot of talk show chatter....
In the end Jennings is a yes, Walczyk a no.....The Mayor won't be biting the business people at the core of his overwhelming election win and if Mr. Jennings can corral Ms. Macaluso then it comes down to Councilman Horbacz.
If he goes for it I would tell him to make sure to get something in return, like setting a date for the ribbon cutting at the new pool.
In the end, I don't see this passing.

If the city decides to inspect rentals to ensure they are safe and livable, wouldn't it be unjust not to ensure the same safety and livability of homeowners as well? This could spark an economic growth for lawyers in the area and cost the city quite a bit, I hope they are saving for a rainy day.

In the age of the Liar in Chief and the skank, why are we going to worry about minor issues like that pesky Constitution, as it were?

Don't you mean he should enjoy his one term?

I can't believe Macaluso would even entertain voting for this stupid law. She is by far the most sensible member of council and has been since she was elected. She is the best Hotline guest host too.

I wouldn't count butler out. But the odds are less for him voting yes, now that Doldo spoke up.

I wouldn't expect Horbacz to do anything but vote yes. He is a big government nanny state guy and this is the stuff he loves. The only thing is, maybe he will feel the pressure from the citizens and have second thoughts about voting the way he wants to in his heart.

Walczyk will vote no, but not because he wants to pad a resume for future aspirations, as you allege, but because he isn't dumb enough to vote for a dumb law.

Seems odd for ScotTV to take a stance against big govenrment and more public employee work, but maybe he is feeling the heat for a change, form the movers and shakers. At any rate...the Ohio case is miles apart from this case. But I do have to wonder, if it is constitutional for the city to put extra requirements on rental owners based on them not living in a certain city town or state

When there are already mechanisms in place, why create a new law and layers of government, especially when we are crying poverty..if we are so broke that firemen need to be reduced in rank, why are we spending money to have our corporation counsel draft, figure out how many guys they need to enforce the law,and then do it?Again, the only ones who seem to profit are the lawyers.

Mayor, totally off topic, but PBS has been broadcasting excellent programs about our presidents. Prior to the Reagan version just starting, the Nixon presidency bugged by dick Cavett show was on. Excellent programming, Mayor

So now we will have to wait and see if Mr. Jennings is willing to risk his political future on his pet law. And if he does continue to press this issue, who will he drag along with him? Is anyone else willing to go down with the ship?

If Jennings insists on going forward with this proposal Ryan Henry Wilkinson should start dusting off his campaign signs.

Wow quite the news report from 7. I'm shocked, must be ol' Scottie wrote that piece he is the only one there that is capable. And they are eating 260's lunch in reporting, especially with this piece. No puff piece there.

if Jennings keeps this up, mayor butler will be putting some orange fencing around him.

This whole inspection / codes debate could parlay itself into another Todd DeMar run for office. How about that? Mr. DeMar and the rumored deputy chief running together? That would be interesting & Ms. Addison's worst nightmare all rolled into one!!

7:55 you must be Ms. Macaluso in disguise. Or her family or the Doc supporting her. She is horrible and the most ridiculous person and council member since Mr. Wright, or Reiley from some years ago. Her decision making is surly unjust and way off base of the norm. She really needs to go along with the CM and Jennings. They are ruining the city.. Wake up.
