WDT: Water Czar Story Validated

Guess my sources were right and Pyrites resident and former Auburn utilities director Vickie Murphy is to be the new Watetown Water Superintendent at a salary of $88K. Council will set the salary level tonight.
News of the hire bubbled up last month, but because the salary is not the same as currently in the budget, Council had to pass an amendment to the pay plan.
Two Council members contacted by the Times said they didn't know much about Ms. Murphy, who was originally recruited from Auburn for a job at DANC but left that agency for the City job which opened up with the retirement of Michael Sligar.
In Auburn she has worked with electric systems and with water and sewer districts that serve both in and out of city users.

They should at least come with another $2k so she can make an even $90k per year. If they don't do this, it will mean a third of the blue collar fire department will make more than this highly educated, skilled, professional woman.

Nice Job 8:38.. But your phone is still free.
ON another note, it seems normal for Watertown council to NOT know much about her and they are voting to approve her contract. Wouldnt you think someone making this much should be known before you approve her contract.
And yes 8:38.. Some in the FD will make more than her because our uneducated council and CM will not fill positions and allow overtime to build up then make it the fd members problem. If i didnt know, i would think the CM is on board with those looking to retire and this is allowing them to pad their retirement. Thank nobody but the CM.

838 you are simple wrong. A third of the blue collar firemen; Where do you get your information from? People should not make comments that are simply untrue, it just makes them look stupid and uninformed.

I can guarantee you that NO firefighters are making even close to 90K. I would also be willing to bet you that there are several members in the fire department who have advanced degrees and certifications. These are hardly unskilled labor positions. I am also willing to bet that the water czar does not have the job risks that we expect our firemen to take. Grow up and quit being such a jerk!!!!

Why would the city, and I presume DANC hire her for more than double what she was making in Auburn? That's right, it's not their money they're spending. Is it really a full time postiion? Seems like they could just contract this out to DANC...

Now that Sligar has left office for good, someone should check how much money was spent under his watch, Let's see a barge, meters that were replaced, (with no revenue repayment) newly refurbished water tower, the list is endless just like his ego..........

Sligar was a disaster you will all see this very soon when the true cost for his leadership is realized.
