Oswego to receive $10 million for downtown revitalization initiative | syracuse.com

Oswego's new and young Republican mayor has an immediate feather in cap. Mayor Billy Barlow is able to celebrate getting one of those $10M downtown prizes. The other one up here was Plattsburgh.
Why didn't Watertown ? That was discussed this morning at a Citizens Advisory Board meeting.
The submission from here was done according to what the City was told as to strategy. The $60K consultants ?  When hired, Councilwoman Macaluso said she would give the firm six months. She said that seven months ago.

{snicker} You have a good point, the city did not get their many's worth from these professionals they hired, but lets not throw stones at ice houses.

STUPID!!!!!! $60,000 for nothing, AGAIN!!!!!! This was a stupid strategy right out of the gate. Obviously we lack vision and leadership and this is why we did not get the money. Are you telling me that the GODS at City Hall couldn't generate a proposal themselves that shows their vision for their downtown? Downtown has been ignored by the city for years an it shows. To have to hire and outsider to present your city for a grant speaks volumes about this bunch. THEY SUCK!!!! Lets not forget, you too supported this Jeff.

Barlow is on Barclays staff, he had the inside track from the region that recommends this. All the projects were proposed under the former may, he did package them nicely and did it mostly in house without spending $60,000 on consultants. This is what happens when you focus not get distracted on dog parks and a broken pool that should have happened years ago

I've been to Oswego recently. I am confused because I'm not sure Oswego even has a downtown. And how much did other cities spend on their submissions.

So Barlow collects a salary from the Assembly and another $40 plus for running the city ?

This is the exact reason print media is dying. 237 words and only 28 about what they're spending the money on. In this info age people want details! Why not a link to their proposal or a summary of it? They can't just do lazy reporting from the dinosaur age and put it on the interweb and think they're going to survive.
