O'burg Detective, Facing Charges, Retires | WWNY TV 7

Gotta love it....Allegedly commit a sex crime.....get suspended with pay ($56,000 for a year),  then retire from jail after a year of getting paid. You can add to that year's pay about $16K in contribution to the retirement system on his behalf. (Obviously he is innocent of the criminal charges till convicted)
    Public employment in New York.
Work for me and get arrested for that and you're done. And if I was cooling my heels in the pokey, there wouldn't  be a paycheck coming my way every day.
Upset about Silver and Skelos ?  Pounding on the "fire queens" in the comment section, shaking your head about the teacher "rubber rooms". Don't leave out those who get to commit a crime but get suspended with pay. You can even beat the stuffing out of people and still get paid

Make a Sentencing Agreement with the Court that all NYS Pension Benefits will be declined and that the money is to be used for Domestic Violence and Sex Offender Victims.

Someone in the Court System has to make the move to enforce this.

Wonder if there's any SSI receipants in the county jail still getting SSI payments while in the hokey? All the elected officials will still get their pension while in prison, I wonder about these on-line pics and where they come from? Is it a set-up by the Feds???

You are preaching to the choir. I have always contended that the teachers are the least of our worries, when it comes to who needs evaluations and who we need to be able to fire more easily. I would have mentioned secretaries who put the city's checks in the desk draw too. But in her defense, how was she supposed to know she was supposed to deposit checks instead of letting them expire in her desk, when there is no written procedure stating so? Oh and I would also point out that when a cop beats the stuffing out of someone, it is important to mention if that victim is unusually advanced in years and that the victim was a good Samaritan trying to help his wife who just died under mysterious circumstances. And the cop coverup where no information is released, not even BAC readings.

9:01, teachers aren't the "least of our worries". No other sector of our NY economy spends more than they do with absolutely no accountability. Give them credit, their crybaby act has worked wonders for them. For the kids, not so much.

And I see another county Corrections officer arrested for Aggravated DWI last night. Lets see how the new Sheriff takes care of the problem. He will probably stay working right alongside with the one that beats up girls and gets arrested. Makes one wonder which side of the bars the real criminals are on.

11:32, ur clueless, it isn't easy teaching kids you have to babysit, but its easy to attack big ED!!

11:32, yes teachers are the least of our worries. I am sorry for whatever your wrestling coach did to you and that your parents sent you to football camp at Penn State, but its doesn't justify your hatred of teachers.

The fact is that teachers are the ONLY govenrment employees held accountable. The fact is that the teachers are not the ones who spend the money, it is Albany. And they spend it on engineers, 20 administrators, a monument to the guy who signed the contract with the engineers. And of course a special needs class for boys like you with your own special needs personal teacher to sit in class with you.

Meanwhile we have zero accountability with fire queens, cops, and the rest of you "corrections" types. Not to mention our golf course heroes, who had govenrment jobs and get government pensions. In contrast, every teacher has 20 or 30 kids reporting back to their parents every day to hold them accountable. And unlike cops, the public never takes the teachers side.

2:32, I taught for almost a decade. Get your mind together before you mouth the party line BS. There is no more corrupt institution in the nation than our teachers union and Big Ed. And they count on dumbasses like you to keep the party rolling.

You taught for almost a decade 800? Where and what subject? Why did you quit? You're awfully bitter...

I agree with 1:30. Once a teacher always a teacher. Those who end up teaching have no other options and will never leave the job anyway, because they have no talents, work ethics, or changes of heart on what they want to spend their lives doing.

At least this guy is in jail, don't teachers get timeout in a special room where they don't have to do anything, just get paid?

10:03, what an idiotic statement. Why do much disrespect for teachers? I'm not a teacher but am amazed at how you believe teachers have no work ethic or talent.
