Nail Salon Odors Face State Edict

Those smelly nail salons will smell better with new regulation announced by Governor Cuomo. Better ventilation systems are being required to ensure worker safety. How much it will cost each salon is not known, but the malls these salons are in will just have to fold the cost into the rent.

What about the hair salons. Ever smell the hairspray stink coming out of those places? Get on the ball Cuomo!

But still no signing of the Mimosa Law? What gives? I see he signed a bill that took the tax off feminine hygiene products already.

Well, for once, we have a problem that is worth addressing by the government. If I can smell them from afar, those stinky nail salons MUST be exposing workers and customers to hazardous levels of chemicals. But we already have laws addressing the exposure of workers to chemicals. Either nail salons do not have hazardous exposure levels, or the men in industry who work with these chemicals just don't matter enough to lower the permitted levels.

I suspect the vanity of many has, so far, trumped the actual caring of the health of the mostly immigrant workers who are the owners and employees at the majority of these nail salons... until now.

Health and safety inspectors want their wemmen lookin' good too.
