Ichiban, Downtown Watertown Nightclub, Faces Possible Eviction

A hearing is today in City Court on the eviction proceedings of a downtown restaurant/nightclub called Ichiban.  Building owner Brian Murray says the operators have created an unsafe environment that is a detriment to other tenants.
Club operators say they are doing their best to provide nightlife to young adults.
The court case revolves around permitted use under a lease and whether a nightclub is significantly different than a restaurant as both operate under the same state license.

This is any easy decision.
Close the damn place. The lease agreement was violated in number of ways and the establishment continues to have security issues. They're 'clientele' can always head back over to the rebranded Hitch where they belong...

Those places belong outside the city in a more open area away from neighbors close by. We are trying to get more foot traffic to the square and we don't need a lot of excess noise going on, BUT if the landlord violated his end of the contract then he should be forced to buy them out to get rid of them.
