Local coverage of the DNC is less than for the RNC, although the Philadelphia gathering is in many ways more interesting. There must not be any delegates from up here to follow.
NNY Democrats supported Senator Bernie Sanders, and the two go-to people for media are Ron Cole and Cody Horbacz.
Where's Mike Schell ?
I know were Ted Ford is and he told me this morning his inclination is to vote for Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
Ted says he wants to shake up the party and advance the viewpoints of Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. He says Hillary Clinton is too conventional in funding and ideology.
(I could translate that for you, but don't want Ted to get a late night visit from party jack boots.)
I listen to Ted not just as a friend but as someone who puts a lot of thought into his politics.
Two years ago he voiced support for Zephyr Teachout in the gubernatorial primary against Andrew Cuomo and because he had been a party activist a call came from the Second Floor to the local party chair.
Of course in NY, straying has fewer consequences than in Ohio or Florida, but the point is not everyone is content to acquiesce to the conventional and shopworn orthodoxy that prevailed in one party this year.
