Watertown has been spared much of the economic problems of the rest of upstate. The only reason we aren't a memory is Fort Drum. If you get special tax breaks, fee money, free healthcare, can do your shopping at subsidized PX, and you worship the proper political party, we have nice place here in Jefferson County. Just ask a Dannie.

And he is absolutely right. If you aren't on welfare,a teacher, government employee, some kind of law enforcement or eking it out on three jobs, there aren't a lot of nys residents left that were born here. That is sad,and wrong, because upstate ny is beautiful, but the policies have made it unlivable for many in the middle class.

He is just talking about GM circle, Carrier circle, GE, New Process Gear, New Venture Gear, Crouse Hinds, and all of our paper industry, which moved to Canada.

He’s playing the rubes… as if he didn’t already have their votes.

A typical urbanite attitude. Go anywhere in rural small town America and the same conditions exist. There are some distinct advantages to living in un-urban areas that an arrogant bombastic egomaniac like Donald Trump would never understand. His opinion is of little value to the quality of life that we enjoy here in the North country, despite these hard economic times.

Dannie would like everyone to think said this in a negative manner.. He didnt... He said this because its true.. With our present Government our taxes, our inability to elect people that have influence in Albany and Washington its very true.. Our politicans up here are ineffective period. Someone prior to this post stated basicly the truth. If your not working for the government teaching or on welfare your means of survival moved out of the area years ago.. They just managed to put a bandaid on Alcoa for a few years buts its doomed..
We have a governor who is corrupt as them come who is only interested in self promotion and believes in defying federal law yet he rules like a dictator.
As soon as we wake up and replace the likes of Ritchie, Blankenbush, Steranik and get people only interested in self advancement such as Byrnes, Doheny etc out of our heads we may flurish again

10:17 Your irrational hatred of Trump causes you to miss the point entirely. Its not the simple country life that Trump was criticizing. Trump was criticizing all the empty factories that NAFTA crated along with the lack of any growth in the last 25 years. You can drive through the Jefferson county industrial park to see a bunch of them. Syracuse and Utica are saturated with them.

Dannie, the lying pants suited criminal is your girl. I wouldn't suggest sucking it up. Your blind obedience to the party line is disgusting enough. A marine with no backbone. What a precedent you set, Mr Man.

“Where do you teach, 9:56?”

Came to Plattsburgh and proclaimed the area had been "devastated by NAFTA". Um, the Plattsburgh area now hosts more than 100 U.S. subsidiaries of Canadian based companies; 15% of the workforce works for a Canadian business on the U.S. side of the border, mostly manufacturers; Canadian commerce benefits Clinton County more than $2 billion annually........ Bur that's right. "Tear up" the North Country's single greatest economic asset which is its commercial partnership with Canada.

1:36, you have to start thinking for yourself. Life is short. Maybe you don't teach. You might work at Solyndra.

Plattsburgh became a ghost town when the airbase closed, not because of NAFTA. Most of the country has been devastated by NAFTA including Upstate NY. The influx of migrants from Mexico has also been affected by NAFTA. Before NAFTA small scale tenant farming was predominate in Mexico. After NAFTA large land owners in Mexico evicted their tenants and started large scale farming operations. Millions of people were affected. We have Globalists like the Clintons and Bushs to thank for NAFTA. They have their own agenda and it doesn't benefit the rest of us.
