6 NY senators' outside income tops their state pay | WHEC.com

Six State Senators are making more in outside income than what they are paid for their legislative job.

Our electeds up here generally make just the base of $79,500 plus lulus and per diems putting them around or slightly above $100K.

Pretty much everyone other than a lawyer or business owner would never be able to hold a regular job in addition, but for those with outside interests the legislative job is a nice salary and benefits extra.

I would expect ALL senators would make more in outside income than the humble $80k per year the state pays them. Hell, even a trooper makes more than that. These people are supposed to be amongst the best and brightest and able to make intelligent decisions. They don't start out being senators and that means they should have accumulated some capital over the years, in their previous occupation And that means if they are bright, then the capital is going to make them some major coinage today.

Big ed strikes again, wait, my bad, I just figured its always teachers who screw the system

For years Addie's daddie Sheldon wouldn't even tell us how much he made on the outside. And Addie thought that was just fine.

10:09, that was really dumb. It really isn't the teachers that screw taxpayers, it's the teacher union. Another animal altogether. Did you get invited to the pool party at Carl Lamica's old house. You know, the one with tennis courts and indoor pools. What sacrifice that new owner, a teacher, must have made. They really do suffer. Just ask Dannie, as it were.
