WDT: Thompson Park Pool Remains Closed

The city's two remaining pools open Monday for the summer. The Alteri and Flynn pools (named after City Council Members) will open, but still shuttered is the Thompson Park Pool. Council Members made a point of promising to reopen it, but that talk melted away with the spring thaw.

Blame current council, but it didn't take 6 months to let the pool get in the shape it is now. You were also a part of the problem.

I'm sure the current council still intendz to reopen the park pool at some point. But the ice rink will have to be paid down quite a bit before taking on more debt.

"That talk melted with the spring thaw".
What lovely words you use to taunt the people who were either, naive, or just outright liars. But I guess they dinnit say WHEN they would reopen the pool. Maybe they meant after they moved the dog park plus 20 years.

Never mind the Park I want to know why the other pools open so late? They always opened when school was out which last week and in hot days it opened after school and weekends prior! This weekend there were thousands of kids down at the fairgrounds for a lax tournament and pool was closed! Really? Here is a chance for Watertown to make an impression on all these out of town teams in 90 degree weather and guess what? Someone should be scolded!

No park pool until you pay for the 13 MILLION DOLLAR Plus arena you all whined for . The place can not even generate enough money to pay the bills down there and was running in the red around $250,000 a year even before the makeover.

2 pools is sufficient for a city of this size.

Build the little kid splash park, ties in with playground and zoo better.

Duh

You would think that the elected lying council members who promised the Thompson Park pool would be restored, would have mentioned that they meant after the arena was paid off, if that was a condition of their promise. But since they never mentioned it as a condition, and only their lying apologists are citing it now as and excuse, it makes them all liars and nothing more.

Why? If you can't open the other 2 when it is hot and the community needs cooling off we certainly don't need a third one! Yup, rain forecast for Monday....lets open the pools then!
