WDT: Sprucing Up

A rehab of the parking lot behind the county's DSS building downtown is a welcome improvement to the city's center. Jefferson County's buildings and grounds are always well maintained and as the county seat, the City benefits from their diligence.

Yes the county grounds and buildings are always nice and fresh looking well maintained. I have been in city hall several times recently to the comptroller's office and the same clump of dirt has been on the stairs for like three weeks and the walls are filthy and WHS is worse their grounds look terrible. Com.'on folks take some pride in your buildings and grounds.

Yeah to bad the DSS bldg. isnt owned by Car-Freshener like they wanted, but the COW refused a variance on the bldg. most folks who voted for that live outside the COW......How many times have you driven on a sub-standard county road with no mainteance? the parking lot will be the Autoban of lots...$pend, $pend, $pend.......

They are rebuilding this to land 747's. The old pavement lasted for over 40 years and before that it last just as long. Yet all the people making money off this overkill project, decided it all had to be dug up and made "just so". Waste of money, time and resources. These guys should apply to the fire department...they already have the "screwing the tax payer" part down pat.

What a shame that building ended up as home to social services,I remember when it was Sears, and went school shopping there with parents.Just like everything, all the good stores downtown closed or moved out of the city and now look what we have.A bunch of small specialty shops, god bless em for trying, but scraping to get by.
