WDT: More Rabid Animals Found....Anxious Neighbors Befuddled by Skunks

As reports of rabid animals rise, residents of one south side neighborhood are said to be skittish about strange acting skunks,
One reports a pesky skunk under the porch of an empty home while there have been reports of skunks listlessly walking down streets at midday and one instance of a skunk strolling through  a group of youngsters splashing in the backyard sprinkler.
The residents don't know what to do and a call to the law resulted in the answer, 'they are supposed to act that way.'
The prospect of rabies, a fatal disease if untreated,  has parents and pet owners worried and afraid.

I removed 13 from an abandoned property next to me in one month a few years back. $35 per animal but well worth it. Haven't seen one since. The City wouldn't do anything about it so I hired a wildlife nuisance agent. Money well spent.

Safe to say it's now on the south side something will be done, prior to this there was a large outbreak on Davidson St. and nothing was done there, lets get the Public Health Czar on it, they do have rabies drop cubes that can be used.......but the kids would eat them.

Skunks are attracted to trash and grubs in lawn areas. Mostly trash. Don't dispose your trash and hide it till next time? Expect skunks. City's never had this problem until last 15-20 years.

No action on this issue until it affects one of the city council yuppies. Then there will be a new commission & task force!
