Somebody told me the other day that there is a retirement event this coming week for Water Superintendent Mike Sligar. If so, I wish him well.
Word is the new Super is chosen but I don't know who she is.
The fiscal year for the City ends Thursday, so that new fire captain thing is Friday. It's tough on those eight to pay the price for the feud that's not settled. Seems those who promised no one would get laid off didn't rule out pay cuts.
That said, having fewer captains may make sense, but making some pay disproportionately is surely not the message Council had sent.
This week the monument in the Park is dedicated and as mentioned earlier we applaud the trial bus routes to Thompson Park.
No word on the Lachenauer Plaza Fountain. Maybe it will end up across from Shooties.
And where's that landlord registration law that was promised ? That's the kind of debate you want held in a non election year, if you're going to propose it.
In politics, there was a curious lead story in the WDT today about issues about Rep. Stefanik's environmental stance under criticism....Heard no such thing and seem a contrived story to me. I will ask her about when she visits the HOTLINE this week.
And in the Assembly race, Democrats tell me they expect a rematch with John Byrne, seemingly dismissing the candidacy of William Sheridan. Dems have long poo-poohed Bobsled Russ Finley.
