New York spends the most per student for 4th year in a row | syracuse.com

The secret to the success of the New York's public education system is having a superintendent every five miles, and having all of them claiming they can only do what Albany tells them.

They don't do what Albany tells them, they do what Obama tells them. Last month they were all busy trying to comply with a law that doesn't exist, regarding allowing all boys and girls to share the same restroom.

I hate superintendents as much as you do. Thye earn as much as two troopers or two toll booth operators. but still, I recognize that its the other hundreds of school employees and contractors and equipment and engineers that take up all the money.

Just the special 'tard teachers alone, eat up much of the budget. What used to be reserved for kids that needed it, has been turned into a special needs entitlement program for every kids with a discipline problem. Today every kids has special needs and SUNY Potsdam is only too happy to pump out more "masters degrees" in the subject. Education degrees make a Trump University degree look like a Doctorate from Harvard.

All that spending is to placate the teacher union. These are the laziest, most self centered, unaccountable, greedy people NYS has ever produced. But they have zillions of little dumbasses who are afraid to demand results. Instead, we finance an army of thugs who commute to Florida, the Bahamas, and Myrtle Beach. This has absolutely nothing to do with children.

You really have to get out of NY for periods of time, to really see how bad it has become. Unions destroying businesses, Unions destroying property owners lives with outrageous tax bills. What a rat hole it has turned into. It's too late and too left to fix.

That's right! Let's fire all the educators and home school all kids, especially the ones that belong to the commenters on here. And while we are doing that, let's dump the layers of politicians every five miles as well, starting at the assembly levels down to the local mayorial level. Look what that has got us.

Yet everyone complains that we are "subsidizing" WalMart by giving their part time workers a million different social programs.

9:52 sounds like he spent too many years in public education. Those of us who criticize spending so much on education are not advocating firing everyone. Just fire half of them.

In addition, get rid of the Masters degree requirement and make it an associates degree with a 3.0 GPA minimum. Suddenly our teachers would be qualified to teach the subject at hand instead of qualified to have the attention span to sit all day in a faculty meeting about BS.
