Luminaries to Attend Monument Dedication

The Tenth Mountain Monument at Thompson Park is dedicated Friday afternoon at 1:30.  The structure was built amazingly fast from concept to completion and was the result of over a half million dollars in fundraising.
It will be interesting to see how it looks, especially when the white granite is lit at night. Later in the day the annual holiday concert and fireworks will entertain in the park.

Lit at night? You're not allowed in the park after dark?

Waste.
The people behind it are self promoters and old, white haired FD retirees who just can't shed the uniform.

Big deal.
Luminaries?
Who?
"Don't ask Don't tell" McHugh? Or has he dissed Watertown?
Or the usual crowd of Beth, Tony, Smith and the aged colonel?

and the usual bitter negative ones chime in again, anything positive for Watertown just is never good enough,at least according to them.

I'd love to see it lit up at night. But that's against the law. As Mark Twain once said, the law is an ass.

12:01, you are commenting on the wrong topic here. This is not about "anything positive", this is about a self congratulatory monument, which virtually no one wanted our park soiled with, other than a handful of sycophantic lapdogs, vested in suckling at the Drum public teat.

They had better honor Bud Hefti and Nate Morrell!!!
Local heroes who fought in Italy without all the sophisticated technology these guys have now. Let's not forget the "original" 10th!! Those men were very brave and actually "protected our freedom". There will never be such a great generation, ever. I will be present at the ceremony, and am willing to speak up if the original division is not mentioned.

8:01, now there's a boondoggle, if ever there was one! Half a million dollars in fundraising to erect and light up a monument in a civic park that it is illegal to be in after dark. History will not shine a bright light on this venture.

next thing you know we'll do individual monuments for all former commanding generals and then...
monuments for all old 10th division hangers-on who retired here and then...
monuments for their wives who took jobs away from local riff raff and then....
monuments for everyone who takes credit for the division being here and then....
monuments for the FD builders and then.....
monuments for stefanik, owens and McHugh who fought so hard to keep FD on the gravy train....and then....
for the poor taxpayers who foot the bill for sll of the above
