Dirty Streets the First Sight You See

Smokers are something else. The way they flick their butts everyone and out the car window onto roadways. That and winter's grime, and here we are at Mother's Day and no sweeper. This is the latest I have ever seen the streets stay this dirty as it was always done early and often.

City Council meets Monday to talk about their proposed budget. I hope they aren't cutting the services that keep the city looking nice. And as for the smokers, show some consideration.

They aren't cutting the sweeping services, they have been on my street twice now, but i'm still waiting for the guys to come and fix my lawn from where the plow cut the yard up for nearly 100 if not more feet. You think once they saw a little grass/dirt they would pull the wing in and/or pull the plow away from the side of the road. Maybe thats too hard when they are traveling almost 30 miles an hour when they plow. Don't worry Jeff, this new council is not cutting the parks and rec, or police or dpw, they are cutting your fire service which cost less than volunteer companies in nearby neighborhoods. I really dont see the whole picture here as their standards are set by the three studies the past and present council has payed for. When are they going to smarten up and use what the experts say and just do our safety as paying citizens a "good thing".

The city can only bear so much Jeff. It's still reeling from your 11 million dollar disaster...

The sweeper spends to much time sweeping the south side , maybe some one should call gene Hayes and let him know there are other streets that need sweeping All city streets should be swept at least twice a month. It does not take long to sweep a street the time wasted is when they have to run all the way back to the barn to empty it . to bad they dint have a wooded area in the park to empty it, its only sand and a few pieces of paper and yes the smokers butts.

City streets are a mess ... potholes that only former Sen. Alfonse "Pothole" D'Amato could love.

Is this outside of your gin mill? Couldn't be your customers smoking out there and tossing them into the road, could it?

1108 Always trying to blame the citizen. Too bad I am out everyday tending to my property and picking up butts. And no, the butts pictured are from motorists as is the dirt, food wrappers and pieces of auto chrome I often pick up.
Keeping commercial property in good shape is a task.

Say just 1 good thing about the city and it's leaders.

It's Mothers Day give us a break.

The days of sweeping the north side streets are over for at least four years. The priorities have been set by the new leadership.

The street sweeping definitely isn't what it used to be.

It has gone down my street once. Doesn't really seem to pick up much, just spreads it around.

The best street sweeping was quite a few years ago when there were two sweepers doing the job, one following the other. Seemed to,pick up a lot more that way.

I used to sweep the street in front of my house myself, but have nowhere to dump it anymore.

Also the pothole crew missed a ton of holes on my street. Parked right in front of them, looked down the street and left.

The pride of workmanship left when Mary was not renewed. I remember Mary coming out in the streets at-25 to bring coffee to us on a main break along with Gary Pilon. Addison does not even know our names and Sligar threatens us with demotions or being fired. Please do not deny this the memos about speaking to our CSEA rep is still in hand.

To 12:25 Sadly you are correct, Sligar is an example of what is wrong with the COW, Same with Addison, both view things through a window with blinders on, And the worker can be right but we'll threaten you with a Article 75 hearing if you don't admit to wrongdoing, No amount of reasoning is ever enough even though policy sides with the employee, and the CM has the option of dismissal, Who knows 12:25 maybe I shared a cup of coffee with you at one time or another.........June's almost here....

Fire them all and replace them with $10-12 per hour employees. They are driving a vehicle for Christ sake. It's not brain surgery.

Roads in the city are in terrible condition, have been for many, many years, including in your many years in office Jeff. Who knows, maybe your street was paid more attention to when you were in office, welcome to the world of the everyday citizen. I don't see the discrimination on any side of the city - all sides are equally bad. Have to drive through the city dodging pot holes while trying to stay in your own lane. Damn, glad I don't pay city taxes, I'd be pissed.

Danny, I cleaned all day around the street Saturday. Went out to go to work Monday mourning, found a brand new coffee cup thrown down on the sidewalk. Got to love it! I picked up crap all mourning so I could mow, and bingo, more trash. You sir can take that to the bank, we live in a filthy world full of A-holes who don't care.
