Arena Floor Get Lots of Patches

Dozens of spots on the new ice arena floor have been repaired after radar testing revealed the flaws. Meanwhile a former Councilman is calling for rejection of the floor and forcing the contractor to tear it up and repour it.
       Concrete experts, weigh in.

The previous floor lasted 40 years. They will back this one for 10.....hmmmm! What is there to think about other than why wasn't it brought out sooner?

Smith chiming in on the arena is priceless considering he pushed and pushed for the upgrade and now he got what he wanting and is the 12th hour quarter back. Current council and staff take the heat for the arena being over budget and he chimes in with his two cents. Go home and stay home Smitty, the city heard enough from you when you were a councilman. The good citizens have spoken and have clearly had enough of you and your opinions.
Oh, I guess that when they gave him his honorary doctor degree, they gave him one in engineering as well,,,,,

We already weighed in as concrete experts.
I think now we should weigh in as experts on law and what the job and responsibility are of the engineer who oversaw the job, the testing company who tested the concrete, the general contractor who oversaw the job, the concrete contractor who was responsible for that slab. And of course the city employee who was overseeing the improvement.

No less than five entities, should have caught this problem and they all turned a blind eye instead. The city deserves more than a new slab installed correctly using the common skills of the trade. It deserves compensatory and punitive damages for gross negligence

Not an expert but Don't sign off on it , until it is perfect.

Mr. Smith was also on line when the roof was leaking and we needed to follow the warranty but what happened then.???? patch and then put on a new one at our expense.
Macaluso's idea of cutting the pay raises for staff.. I bet she liked her raises as a health aide (notice i'm not calling it a nurse since her ideas about health are way off at times). Management works and deserves a proper pay for what they do. The council puts a lot of work onthem and they deserve their pay and raises.. IF they make more than others in the city.... they are management duhhhh. What is the current CM making over Mr. Corriveau when she was here for how many years.... It reminds me of the pot, and kettle story..
She really needs to move on...

The new floor won't last anywhere near as long as the old. Just the way it is.

This is great!! The project that gets worse and worse. I can't still for the life of me figure out why ice was put down for a week or so. That isn't cheap, then, to take it out again. I get the fact that we wanted to show off our shiny new Madison Square disaster but how about making sure the floor is good before we roll it out? I know, I know, this is a foreign concept but for the price that was paid one would think it would be nice without major flaws. Now, to correct the flaws in admin...story to be continued.

Right 840....The warranty on the roof was worthless, they paid staff to pump silicone in the bad parts of the roof, so much they bought a Battery powered caulk gun

You were responsible for awarding the contract to the Contractor Mr Former Mayor.

Poured concrete for ten years. The trouble is, you can "fix" it, but it will never be the same. It will always be an issue. Reputable contractors as well as serious customers tear out the bad pour and fix it right. But it's doubtful the city or the contractor will be concerned with money that came from the taxpayers.

137 Yes Graham was, as are three current Council members there at the time and the engineer, purchasing officer, CM and Bernier Carr who was paid to oversee the project.

The Purchasing Manager was there to oversee it??? No she's there to insure her SP hubbie got Ms. Mills the endorsement...

The concrete in Sam's Club was poured wrong years ago. You could even hear the "hollow" under the floor, in certain spots, has you pushed your cart across it. Eventually they brought in industrial grinders and ground the entire floor plus filled some spots with filler too. It works fine now. but it ain't too purty.

The floor is going to last longer than the bankrupt hackey team anyway.

Best thing is cut your losses and leave. It will only get worse.
