WDT: Recommended minimum bid for naming rights for Watertown ice rink to be $25,000

For a quarter million dollars you can have your name on the Fairgrounds Arena  City staff is recommending a minimum of $25K a year for the right to have your name on the building which cost $11M to renovate.

The plan to sell naming rights is part of City Hall's plan to mitigate the cost of the controversial project.....But $25K covers little of that...

It will be interesting to see who bites.  CarFreshner, a soda company and a car dealership are thought to have expressed interest.

But anyone with a little vanity might find it a bargain to have their name in lights.

$25,000? Wow. How pathetic.

Just call it the 10th Mountain Arena and pAddie Ritchie will get you $100k in free money to help pay for it. All she had to do is vote for Cuomo's budget, which was 100% compromise on her part.

A lot of money to be associated with a failing municipality. I hope it is worth it. What happens if no one bids?

Maybe it will turn out like the concession stand bids?

Let's face it, it should be called the Graham Arena. You were a 20 year mayor and the driving force behind the project. I'd say it's a fitting honor.

If Addison would agree to resign in the morning, I'd be willing to call it the Sharon Addison memorial arena...

If I had an extra 25,000 I'd call it the Todd DeMar arena, just to piss off the city manager.

How about the Brenda Harwood arena......She'd have it named for FREE, just as long as the Manager quits........
