WDT: Oh Those Nasty, Naughty SNIRT People

Seven thousand people participated. Five people were injured. There were ten DWIs as police frm several agencies swarmed the event.  And in an editorial this morning, the annual SNIRT Run gets a raspberry from the elites.
The editorial even chided Lewis County Sheriff's deputies for not "leading the way" and snagging more than their three DWIs, as NYS Park Police wrote more.
It's a big event that draws many people. It's not something I choose to participate in but obviously many do.
Some measure success by how many arrests are made or fines collected.  To me, getting 7000 ATV fans to come to a county of 28000 and spend money is an opportunity to be savored.
      Maybe I am missing something.

You know the percentage of DWI is higher for local school superintendents,Deputies, DA assistants, Co Legislators, city councilwomen. Did I miss any?

Thank you Mr. Graham. You have proven, once again, that you are in touch with your constituents. Let the elites look down their noses. We all know how they like to have fun....
I agree completely, the Lewis County folks should be commended for getting so many "tourists" to visit and the Sheriff for knowing enough to work the fringes.

Jeff you certainly are missing something. To make it short, do you condone the acting like a--holes, drugs and drinking and driving without retribution from the authorities.. We have laws and they must be followed by all especially visitors.

That's funny 7:40. Not well thought out but funny. Anyway, your right, why can't we leave fun alone. This was a trend that started in Watertown about 5-7 years ago with the concerts, sports, etc...I am surprised the state does not promote the event to raise $$ for DWI tickets. It's interesting, I live in Buffalo and the first nice day last week their was a trooper car every quarter mile on the main highways. FUNdraising. And for all the negativity towards big ED, let's take into account what our state pays for it's upgraded and massive fleet of Troopers. HMMMM

If they were followers of minister Garry, a sacred cow, they'd get great coverage.

speaking of the padre, he's certainly paying a lot of time snuggling up to our 90 year old one-self-promoter millionaire. Wonder why?

This is one of those times we agree on something. The event is still in it's infancy and has grown exceptionally. If the organizers, county officials, and law enforcement work together, there is no reason for it not to be a continuing success.

10:57, The point is that statistically there is much more of a need to have our overpaid overtime law enforcement concentrated on those areas I listed where the known offense rate is high, instead of hounding the rednecks for the very very very small percentage of them that you are going to catch ridin' dirty.
