Tax Cap Local Law The Canary in Coal Mine for Budget Debate

Every year for as long as I remember, City Budgets are "unveiled" as if they are some great mystery to be revealed to the shock and suprise of Councils.
The internals of city finances are no secret and the budget is merely a codification of the numbers. The budget released is no surprise and the factors and trends contributing to it have and should have been discussed in the run up to release.
The release frames the debate as the starting point is set.
Add the tax cap, which would require an override. I don't think the local law enabling that will find an introduction and second tonight.
That means a million dollar difference and that will be bridged with a few adjustments and appropriation of fund balance.
First act will be tonight and seeing if the cap law is introduced.

Do they have money in there for the new pool? Might as well get power earthing and the rust proofing as long as your going to have a car payment. The income from the city run snack bar should help mitigate the expense.

Move the fire station to the arena and have the fire dept staff the concession stand and mow the grass and weedwhack.
Why pay them to sit on their ass watching Netflix between fender benders when we can get some productive work accomplished.
