Kasich Rally a Window into Local Politics

The John Kasich rally at the Wright Center is small enough in scope that you could scope out who's there. Who is seen and wants to be seen. Who is part of the sensible center of the GOP....Who is well taken care of by the system.....
The Donald Trump rally the next day will be more of what the elites call NNY woodchucks, and there will be few of the taken-care-of crowd.
John Kasich is the safe choice to  put forth if you are at a Save the River cocktail party or at a tea at the Boat Museum. You will be seen as GOP Light and that fits in the North Country's long tradition of Rockefeller Republicanism......In recent years, the local GOP voter has seen the rise of the Hoffman voters who in 2009 surprised the more genteel, pro-choice mandarins of the Barclay-McEwen-Nortz era.  The latter will be out in force for Mr. Kasich, not Mr. Trump.
In any event, we welcome both candidates to Watertown.

But its not as if the number of people who go to such things, even though they are not "supporters", is insignificant. Attending, only means you are interested. In fact, you could say more things, with more certainty, about the people who don't attend.

It's pretty sad that Kasich has a MUCH better chance of gaining the nomination than Trump. Trump doesn't even stand a chance of being a VP choice. lol

Say what you want, but what NYers wouldn't do to trade our Benito for a Gov Kasich. Our little dicktator is an embarrassment, while Mr K is a true human being. I doubt if I've ever heard the man scream while mouthing bs.

The people that didn't go are the brightest and the best. They hope for the day that the people define their own destiny. They still believe a few people can not game and manipulate the system at the expense of families and society. You will see people who believe in justice fairness equality love and kindness at the airport !
