Is The Penny On Its Way Out ?

Will the penny fade away ?  Rumors are the Treasury Secretary will propose suspending production of the one cent piece, something that may make sense but will be opposed by sentimentalists, and those Members of Congress with in-district jobs related to the production of the coin or the mining of its primary component, zinc.
It costs 1.7 cents to make a cent.

I don't think you will find many people objecting to eliminating the penny these days. Last time it was talked about eliminating it, it was worth a hundred times more than it is now. But more importantly, today's Sanders voters are accustomed to getting free stuff and they wouldn't bother to bend over to pick up a quarter much less a penny. Their efforts are rewarded much more if they fill out a form for free stuff on campus or on the internet, or if they just ask mommy or grandma for the money.

Obama created, in one year, more debt than the country caused since 1776! We are now 20 TRILLION in debt! Why should the cost of a penny mean anything to him?
