WDT: Famous Dick's to Sell Food at the New Arena

Famous Dicks Hot Dogs will operate the snack bar at the Fairgrounds Arena if Council approves the bid on March 21.  The $400 a month bid tops one for $350 a month from Maggies on the River.
       Kerry Johnson owns Famous Dicks.
Council will act on the bid on March 21.

I love their big Dick dog!

Jeff, you had to see this coming.

Wonder why the Queen of Parks wasn't at the bid opening? Guess she learned from her master how to hide behind a minion.

What a difference $50 makes. Got to sell a lot of wieners to make it worth while though. But good luck to him...

If commie cody had his way, he'd being handing out boxes of raisins there with a free flyer telling everyone how great everything is.

That is one ugly concession store front. What do you call that Architecture? Neo-faux-utilitarian/brutalism circa 2010?

The Queen of Hearts is on vacation in Florida. Everyone deserves time off.

I paid 10 million dollars and all I got was a lousy hot dog....

HUH? I have to admit that I didn't believe this could get more comical but it has. A hot dog street vendor (no offense to him) at the 12 million dollar palace. You can't make this stuff up.

As has been stated all along..it's not about services or quality. No offense to the Hot Dog guy but a place like Maggie's would add some class to this "facility." But as we have feared, it's about fundraising for the city of Watertown to try to offset this boondoggle and a measly $50 to bring in a place like Maggie's to offer better fare is the determining factor. It will only get worse folks.

Bids do not always show best VALUE.

I hope council evaluates this decision VERY carefully.

I hope the councoil does the math better than the Times. 400 per month does not ekwal 6800 per yer. Unless a yer has 17 months. En I am a teechur.

Why is it that when you drive up and down Arsenal street, you see no hotdog restaurants? Is it because there are at least a dozen other fast food items that are more popular than hotdogs? Why yes...yes it is. But hotdogs will be a hit with the over 60 crowd.

Lets see if he lasts a year.

Hey 11:26 Maggie's is going to add some class???? How many stabbings were there?? At least with Mr. Johnson were getting a former car salesman,Friendly's worker who knows his way around things.....

And Yet the Mayor says Dick's won't get the bid???? Guess the Maggie's/NOW Czar didn't like it that he lost the bid.....

Wait, Famous Dick's is owned by a guy name Johnson?

I think Maggie's benefits enough from this already. That's where the hackey players hang out after the games causing trouble. Yet they needed a $10,000,000 facility to separate them from the fans. Those hockey moms are pretty tuff you know...

Just another case where the plans for the arena were not very well thought out. This project got shoved down the throats of the taxpayer and is plagued by many problems that are yet to come to the attention of the people. We got the shaft on this one and will be paying for it for a long time. Just wonder if the current council would have made the same decision that was made by the previous one? I for one am very glad that we have two new faces. Cant wait to say that there are 4 new faces. maybe then we will get some common sense.

COW will eventually become bankrupt because of lack of planning for the future. Our youth is moving away to gain employment. Mostly senior citizens who remain will no longer contribute to a tax base in the future years. Fort Drum will need to make a hard decision when costs to keep the base open are not feasible. The elected officials have failed us but at least some of them have a plaque to immortalize them.

Afraid once the National Grid contract is expired we will be worse off than Fulton area.
