Top Bid Disqualified....Famous Dick's Loses Out to Maggie's for Arena Snack Bar

As we told you the day of the bid openings, Maggie's on the River would be getting the concession deal at the Fairgrounds Arena. The city has disqualified the apparent high bid of $400 a month. Maggies bid $350.
While there are risks, $350 a month is cheap rent for a brand new facility and I think utilities are included.

Only in Watertown, New York.

The Faces change but that is all.

RENT includes Utilities. You must be kidding.

Given the choice between hotdogs, versus a menu with a variety of foods that are actually popular with people younger than 60...Tough choice.

Does this mean the arena will stink of fried perch?

Although from a quality side this is most likely the best option, the apparent inside edge here reeks of corruption. Why then put out bids?? It's a losing proposition and to those who bid, the people in the area can't say thank you enough...no one else in their right minds wanted anything to do with this service. These people need to have the right to sell beer for the one or two concerts that take place to even approach making this a break even proposition. I sympathize for the hot dog guy who put forward the highest bid and deserved it by that reason only. Money is the key here and everything was supposed to be about making $$ from this boondoggle. That should be the final factor.

4:40, it will when they figure out the arena falls under title IX law.

This will lead to no bids next year. Time for COW to hire more P&R workers for concession stand duty next year. Think the revenue will offset the expenditure? Time to moooove out of the COW.

I think it was a done deal long before the bids went out. Gardner and Schweitzer had the deal all done before bid pack went out

So they couldn't mention the low bid was incomplete when they opened them?

Just keeps getting worse.
